Yes, scary as advertised. That's why people who are nabbed either texting or talking on a cell while driving need to be severely penalized. It's actually worse than drunk driving, since it happens during the day (not that all drunks just come out at night) when the traffic is worse.
I think the real lesson here is to avoid riding bikes. Besides the obvious safety advantage of a car, you also avoid the embarrassing stigmas of body odor and sun burn (not to mention horrible facial scarring).
