NYU Goes Global

Trendy New York University is exporting its degrees to regional campuses all over the world. Is it a craven grab for cash, or a credit to the popularity of an American education?

"You've never been to New York City - never seen the Washington Square Arch, never sat in the park, never stood in line in the Silver Center and perhaps never visited the United States. But you graduated from NYU and took home a degree with the school's name on it.

If the university's plans succeed, that could be the NYU experience for more than 10 percent of its students.

At the center of the university's expansion plans are degree-granting regional campuses, planted around the world. NYU hopes to build three by 2031.
