Dance Europeans, Make Americans Shake With Jealousy

The Teenagers "Homecoming" live

Continental singer mocks our American ideas of sex and relationships in his lyrics, then dances with several hot American girls on stage in New York City. You can call him a hypocrite, we guess, but you can't call him lonely.

Discussion
  • because it is not the first time, i'd like to tell you: this description is full of male gaze. i'm not sure if you are trying to appeal to a particular audience, but i don't find my interest to view/hear something piqued that way. it seems like a limiting way to splice.

  • Other than implying he felt jealous and then referring to the girls as hot, I don't get how this is "full of male gaze." Presumably the poster is a heterosexual guy and the descriptions are honest, not to mention pretty tame. Can I have an example of a male-gaze-less post about this video?

  • I'm not sure whether you're taking offense or simply observing (correctly) that the blurb was written by a man. Considering that the refrain of this particular song is "I fucked my American cunt," one might be inclined to direct their observations on gender perspective to other content on the page, but your point is duly noted. We'll try to be more aware of our use of language in the future.

  • thanks pete. i wrote that comment without viewing the video. perhaps that's a little unfair of me, but i promise i am not trying to be frivolously oppositional. i was more interested in presentation and tone via these little blurb descriptions of the content and what makes people interested to read or watch something. @f&f, those things were all that i was referring to. so perhaps if it said "then surrounds himself with several dancing american women on stage;" that would be informative and would still honor the content without necessarily inviting the people who read "hot girls" on the front page and decide to click. maybe that's a little awkward and i am being fussy, but just a thought.
