I've read Catcher in the Rye four times and every time I finish I try to figure out how it inspired Chapman to kill Lennon and I still can't figure it out. Maybe this movie will explain it, but I just don't see the connection.
that movie looks good. i agree that you can't give a killer too much sympathy, but mostly I hate the "society made them that way" argument, like in "American Tragedy."
I'll see this film as well, but just out of historical curiosity, like Oliver Stone's "JFK." I remember clearly the night when Lennon was killed; a co-worker of mine was in a daze for two weeks and kept to his bed. Some rock critics wondered why it had to be Lennon and not McCartney, which was really twisted. There's a fascination with Chapman after all these years and I don't really get it: he was a creepy and disturbed guy looking for attention. I don't imagine, so to speak, that Lennon would've produced much more great music, but it sure would've been fascinating to hear him pop off on different social and political issues.
