It’s a short story, maybe history between the birth of the nation and the death of democracy. It only took 250 years to evolve into today’s mess. A celebration of our grand Semiquincentennial on July Fourth, 2026, is fast approaching. What do we have to show for it? What can we offer or expect from this event that will seal the deal for our illegitimate hatred and personal anger towards the world at large? It’s not like there was no warning. You saw it.
All that has passed, the entire illegitimate history since the pilgrims arrived in 1620 and began the process of genocide. The systematic extermination of the indigenous peoples who were already living here. Right on up to the Declaration of Independence in 1776. All the centuries from then to this moment are a testament to the hatred against people who rightfully belong here. Not only wiping out the indigenous peoples but also the slave trade that led to Civil War. You can say they had first dibs on this North American continent. The manifest destiny of lies that accumulated over time is in place only to confound and confuse us.
There are many reasons why this occurred, with hatred and God on their side the driving force behind the expansion and development of the United States. It sounds good in retrospect, but the reality is that we built and bullied our way to the top of the bottom line. Go west, young man, and in God we trust. Everybody pays the price for freedom, and the bill is long overdue. Your money’s no good here. Working isn't working, and freedom ain’t free. The inflated cost of living isn’t measured by how much money you have, make, or spend. We’re much poorer for it.
I’ve seen hatred up close. Growing up with racism inside my own family and with friends only mirrors the racism of today’s intolerance. I saw the bigotry of white privileged men, women, and children. They believe they’re superior to others. Americans reflect so much hatred. They decry Trump Derangement Syndrome over the Deranged Trump Complex. When they take a long look into the mirror they see the world as less than themselves.
It’s not a matter of how we got here but where we were at all along. Hate doesn’t make you better than anyone else. It divides and conquers everything that makes us happy humans. That’s asking too much from us, the users and abusers in a free society. A place where customers became consumers and were never right because we never had any rights to begin with. Your buying power is useless because the money you spend is so much more than the shoddy products you buy. Nothing adds up. From a consumer economy to a war economy. The money makes them run scared, but they always want more.
There’s a bottomless pit that bankrupt politicians can never fill. The greed feeds them. The power keeps them coming back again. How could one man get away with decades of criminal activity and racist behavior and still be allowed to continue? Truth isn’t an option. Trump validates the hate of white Americans. He gives them the green light for their fears and actions to make America hate again. The same old playbook of intimidation and intolerance that leads to violence.
People are sick and tired of the endless bullshit from bullies who can’t see beyond the blood in their eyes. Their impotent rage is unjustified by the fact that they’re not the majority. Yet, we’re held hostage against the tide of hatred that washes over us like raw sewage. Distractions from pro wrestling and football can’t hide the rot. What to do?
Make believe it doesn’t exist. We’re cheated out of our lives by the very people who are there supposedly to protect our freedoms. The show closed on opening night. Dismal ticket sales. Time to move on to the next town. Maybe it will play better in the sticks. Those dumb slack-jawed hicks will swallow any crap if you cover it with something sweet. Cosplay Pedophile politicians and priests are a dime a dozen. You can’t buy a cheap seat ticket in the house. They want to rewrite history to suit their own interests. I have no answers.
