Susan Cianciolo: On the train and on the subway, but not to the movies. I rarely go to the movies.
Tom Cruise: People go, “Where do you live?” I’m like, “On movie sets. And around the world. I’m a citizen of the world, a citizen of humanity.”
Cianciolo: The most recent place is Tokyo—to present this collection. Do you know what I mean?
Cruise: I know, I know, I know. [Laughs] I really have no idea.
Cianciolo: Mmm-hmm. I know. It’s hard and cold, but then you’re isolated and it’s pure, and you just kind of stare into space.

Cruise: Whatever you think, it’s all there.
Cianciolo: And really practical. It’s kind of a bad habit.
Cruise: Everyone has their own things, what they have to confront in life and what they feel is scary or whatever.
Cianciolo: That was crazy, because you see all of the drunk tanks when they bring the people in...
Cruise: What is comedy? What is drama?

Cianciolo: I mean, I am kind of locked in an attic that I don’t ever really leave.
Cruise: Not even close. We lived in rented houses.
Cianciolo: Yes, I can imagine that. Do you play music?
Cruise: No. I just haven’t had the time, with the amount of things that I set in motion and decided I was going to do and looking back on those things that I felt worked.
Cianciolo: Now I’ll just float back to my sewing machine.
