Cameras In Kabul

When the Taliban ruled Afghanistan human images of any kind were forbidden. Now, amidst the continuing struggle to build a society out of ongoing violence and an economy based on opium, young students are learning how to tell the stories that matter to them through film. A nine minute preview can be viewed on YouTube, and it's definitely worth checking out. The best parts of the clip are during the last minute, when the kids sit around discussing the problems facing Afghanistan with the Polish director, Jacek Szaranski. The full documentary, which runs about an hour, can be viewed here for about $2.
