The Mars Volta, eat your heart out.

Discussion
  • Can any recording with a violin track really be counted as rock? Mahavishnu Orchestra was a veritable Who's Who of jazz musicians headed down the wrong path. Even prog, one of the lowest forms of rock, should be embarrassed by this. And let's get to work on destroying the hearts of the Mars Volta, shall we? We can throw in John McLaughlin for starting this atrociousness while we're at it. What happened to posting Ponytail videos?

  • The original Mahavishnu Orchestra was one of the greatest bands ever assembled. The 2nd version (w/Jean Luc Ponty) was awesome as well. Saw both of them perform live in NYC on a number of occasions. Words can't describe the experience. Who cares what genre they supposedly represent?
