The Dictatorial Oppression of the Digital Economy Act

With the passage of the Digital Economy Act, the UK has enacted harsh penalties for online copyright violations. Remember a few years ago when Sen. Orin Hatch suggested that anyone who illegally downloaded anything should have their PC destroyed? Yeah, it's kind of like that.

Liberal Democrats are fighting for a repeal, while Cory Doctorow (BoingBoing) thinks the war is on.

Meanwhile, comedian Nathaniel Tapley has his say. And 101Culture offers more round up.
