Via Vice Magazine, a stunning photo gallery of abandoned Detroit schools.

  • This gallery is incredible. I visted Cooper Elementary in 2007 (second to last picture in the gallery) to talk with them about getting some new bookshelves for their library because they had boxes of books that they had no room for. The building was in perfectly good shape, but what was amazing is how it stood there, completely alone with what looked like Prairie surrounding it for at least half a mile in each direction. In the distance was some industrial building, and in the other direction was a sole abandoned home. The whole scene was incredible, and I haven't seen anything like it since.
