I Came for Dying Fetus, But I Stayed for Nailshitter

An entranced metalhead breaks down a recent Orlando concert, where the "bros" almost ruined it for everybody. Can a single show take place nowadays without this argument being made? Worth reading for the band names alone.

Finally, a metal show in Orlando! It has been a dry couple of months in the city.

On a hot Thursday night at the Haven, black shirts formed a line down the side of the small club. Everything about the night was diverse, from the fans to the bands. The emotions ran as high as the temperature, and I felt not only "friendly violent fun" (ala Exodus) in the air, but also some violence coming on.

"There were lots of different kinds of people there. Some diehards and some kids who didn't know what to do in a mosh pit," said Matthew Petrello of Sanford.

Diverse could be considered an understatement. The crowd ranged from laid-back old-school metalheads, to kids in trendy bondage pants with colored hair, to wannabes (also called bros).

  • Nailshitter! Oh my god, that's brilliant.

  • Um, I wrote this article originally and I'm curious as to 1. why the title has been changed and 2. why there's a picture of Therion.

  • Yeah! I agree with Pitgoddess. You stole her article and in YOUR paragraph you make the article look like its not even worth reading except for for the band names. This article is about many more positive things than just fighting with "bros". You are the "Bro" Loser. Whoever runs this website sucks along with whoever posted this on this page....

  • Cassie, PitGoddess: relax. The headline (they don't call em titles, bro) has been changed because this is a blog post that consists of a short passage from the original article and ends with a link to the original article (notice the "link to full content" thing? yeah), and so we put a new headline and sub-headline. There is a picture of Therion because, quite simply, it's from Flickr's Creative Commons and it illustrates, however derivatively, a metal show. Stop whining that your article got some linkage...almost two years ago. Also, writer to writer, putting an exclamation point in your lead is just asking for bad things to happen.

  • Why thank you for the clarification Andrew. We must have been extremely confused and you have now cleared it all up. As a bonus you also cleared up how big of a jerk you are... "Linkage" doesn't mean shit when the link is being represented in a false manner by the "blogger's" HEADLINE and the PICTURE. It makes it seem like she doesn't know what she is talking about when really it is YOU who doesn't have a clue...exactly why I would be pissed if you put my article on here.
