Facebook: grinding to a halt?

The recent departure of yet another CFO sparks worries.

But would it really be all that bad if Facebook went down in flames?:

What it necessarily means is that either: a) the financing strategy of the company has failed, valuations are down, sources are drying up, and the CFO is taking the hit; b) the CFO and CEO are locked in combat about the direction of the company and the board was forced to choose, creating political waves and repercussions for months to come; c) the CFO turned out to be a total lame-brain, which would indicate that the company itself has no idea what it’s doing if it hired such a total lame-brain; d) the company is looking for a fancier dude for when it goes public.

  • Who cares? When Facebook goes under it'll just be because the next stupid thing has come along.

  • maybe if they stopped making such horrendous "updates" to the site's interface they wouldnt be having such problems. It seems like none of the reconfigurations over the last few years have been well received by users but this most recent Twitter-esque change is by far the worst and most un-user friendly. What used to be a simple, fun, easy to use website has now become a complicated-looking, overwhelming stalking machine that gives you TMI about people and is an assault on everyone's privacy. They should have thrown in the towel in terms of revamping after they allowed to the photo application, everything else added after that was just annoying.

  • Plus it looks pretty certain that Zuckerberg stole the idea for Facebook (he refuses to talk about the accusation)so even though we're all addicted to it I would be half in withdrawal / half happy if the old FB went out of business.

  • I think you are quite right Zach. I've already tired of the annoying constant barrage of emails I get from FB about "who I'm related to" and which "friend I should connect with" blah, blah, blah
