The Beginning Is the End

That is all that matters, how well we live our lives in the moment.

There’s no way around it. No path to the ultimate truth of beginning and ending. One starts, the other ends. How did it start? Starting over again. How will it end? In the beginning, but it could be in the middle. Everything without end is tedious unless it can become new eternally. An irrefutable law of nature or physics. The law of the jungle is survival of the fittest. In theory it’s all theoretical. When irresistible forces meet immovable objects. Seeing the forest without the trees in it. The trees dwindled down to a precious few because ax handles made of wood made the mistake that trees believed the ax was on their side.

Time passed, no way to count or measure the increments that make up the difference. The change in time zones differs every degree or so, except where they meet north and south. When latitudes come together at a point, does time stop? Does time even exist? It’s here now and then gone. The illusion slips through the fingers like trying to hold water in your hands. It’s the possible impossibility to know what time it is or when it will be. You may say that there are better things to do with your time than trying to hold on to it. You can set your watch to any time. The resulting lapse in time leaves no happy endings. The beginning of something happens, and then that changes into something else. It turns out one can be in two places at once.

Merely a matter of perspective trying to understand the nature of clock-faced eventualities. The second hand revolves around the big hand marking hours and the little hand marking minutes in circular motion. The final experiment in this cosmic cartoon universe. What's seen is not always what’s there. You must start somewhere to get the ball rolling. Time doesn’t march on; it waddles and wavers.

It’s not what we think or want, but what we need to believe. Half the battle of knowledge versus superstition. A departure of concluded arrivals. Things become muddled in the mix. Our history bemoans myth. What’s known is not always what is. There’s a lot of embellishment on supposed reality. You can’t invent this stuff, but we do it all the time. If there’s an edge to the universe, you’ll never see it. In a world without end to begin anew. A fresh perspective on time-honored traditions.

Life goes on without time's encumbrances. Trapped in a bubble of uncertainty, moving forward forever. The party goes on whether you’re there or not. The sun will shine somewhere else when it’s dark here. The rain will wash away the scum of the earth back to the sea from whence we came. Beyond the depths of the ocean to the universe. The moment of birth is a return to the endless ending. Death holds dominion over our lives like a dark cloud hanging above. There are options by choice, but the only way to make sure that the right one works is to go for it with gusto. You say that we only have one chance, one way, one direction, and one life. Not true. It’s a multiple-choice question. Make a wise decision. Make a wish. Choose your destiny wisely or lose the chance to live in peace.

That is all that matters. How well we live our lives in the moment. No future or past, no regrets or mistakes. Missed opportunities come and go. There’s always another path ahead just beyond the edge of where death meets the horizon in this world and the next. Have no illusions about what is or shall be. Only time remains to confound us. The storms of life never last longer than the days that follow them. Chanting the mantra, the time is now and later too. There’s much to be thankful for, and meaning holds no gratitude to those ungrateful wretches that surround us. This is no treatise on the way to conduct the business of business—conquer the demons of fear and folly. Reap the rewards of success and be happy. Stop waiting for others to start or stop. You continue. Proceed with caution or total abandon. Disregard the rules and regulations. Forget about the games played in amusement for the benefit of none. The time will come.
