The narrative presents a picture-perfect utopia of pristine streets and social harmony.
This superficial praise masks a crisis of security and identity that’s forcing a radical political reversal. European leaders are finally waking up to the long-term consequences of uncontrolled mass migration from cultures fundamentally incompatible with Western liberal principles.
The deadly consequences of this shift were on display just a few weeks ago in Copenhagen, as violence erupted among crowds gathered to watch a World Cup match. When a confrontation broke out, Christian Zedig, a 32-year-old off-duty police officer, stepped forward to de-escalate the tension, only to be brutally assaulted by a migrant male with a violent criminal record that included a prior conviction for attempted murder. As Zedig lay helpless on the ground, his attacker repeatedly stomped on his head. He leaves behind a widow and two young daughters to navigate the unimaginable void left by a husband and father who paid the price for his civic courage.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen responded with what she described as "deep sadness and violent anger," arguing that the assault reflected "a familiar pattern." She added that "far too much crime is committed by people who have come to Denmark from outside"—a sobering assessment that’s difficult to dispute.

For robbery, Somali nationals are overrepresented by approximately 33 times the native Danish rate, followed by Tunisian nationals at 21 times and Palestinian nationals at 16 times. In cases of blackmail, Palestinian nationals show the largest disparity at 27 times the baseline, with Somali nationals at 14 times and Iraqis at 12 times.
The figures remain elevated across other forms of interpersonal violence. Somali nationals are recorded for grievous assault at roughly 17 times the native Danish rate, while Palestinian and Tunisian nationals each stand at around 12 times the baseline. The pattern continues across sexual violence and the most serious violent offenses. In instances of groping, Syrian nationals are the most overrepresented, at 12 times the native Danish rate, followed closely by Afghan nationals at 10 times the rate. In rape cases, Somali nationals are recorded at approximately 20 times the native rate, while Syrian nationals stand at 16 times the baseline. What connects these perpetrators, besides a total contempt for the law? They come from predominantly Muslim nations, cultures where the degradation of women is institutionalized, and acts of savagery are normalized.
Statistics alone can’t capture what these numbers mean for everyday life. Their gravity is felt by citizens who no longer feel safe in their own homes and in communities where public confidence has given way to caution. Copenhagen is a beautiful city, but that it’s paraded as the safest, most livable city in the world is less a victory than an indictment of the West. The bar has been lowered so drastically that living in a place where your chances of being assaulted, raped, or killed by a foreign offender are slightly below the average of comparable Western nations is now hailed as a triumph. Safety is measured by whether a young woman can walk through her neighborhood at night without calculating the demographic risk of her route.
