YouTube is a great place to go and watch streams of people's home Broadway recordings and cats riding Roombas, but no one really thinks of it as a site where you can go to see high-definition videos. That's changing, however, as YouTube is in the process of testing high-quality videos across the site, and we're not just talking 480x360—we're talking full 720p.
YouTube has been adding the feature to certain videos over the last few months, and the inconspicuous link that says "watch in high quality" seems to have been appearing on more videos as of late. YouTube confirmed to Wired that the upgrade is part of the company's efforts to test different video formats with its audience.
