Gerhardt "Jerry" Fuchs dies in bizarre accident

Drummer for Maserati and The Juan Maclean, among other bands, fell to his death at last night's benefit known as The Uniform Project.

Drummer Gerhardt “Jerry” Fuchs, who played in !!!, Holy Ghost!, The Juan Maclean, Turing Machine and Maserati, accidentally plunged to his death on Sunday in an elevator shaft in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. According to the New York Post, the Georgia-born drummer had been attending a benefit for The Uniform Project, an organization that advocates for the children of India’s slums, at 338 Berry St. He was reportedly stuck in an elevator with another person after midnight. Fuchs and a friend tried to leap over a gap between the elevator and the building’s fifth floor, but his clothes became caught and he fell to his death. Fuchs was later pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital at 3:33am.
